What Factors Affect the Cost of Dental Implants?

You may love the idea of getting dental implants to replace your lost teeth, but before you commit to anything, it is understandable if you want to know how much they will cost. While that might seem like a simple question, it is actually a bit complicated. That is because several factors can influence the cost of your care, including the following:

Preliminary Care

Even before your dental implant surgery, you might need to undergo one or more preparatory procedures. For example, if your jawbone is a bit thin or weak, you might need a bone graft. If you have gum disease, it will need to be addressed before you can receive implants. Such procedures come with their own fees, which can vary quite a bit depending on the extent of the necessary work.

Materials

The dental implant procedure requires both implant posts (prosthetic tooth roots) and restorations (crowns, bridges, and dentures). The cost of these items depends on how big they are, which lab or manufacturer they come from, the materials used to make them, how many of them you need, and more.

Your Treatment Plan

There are different ways to perform dental implant procedures. For example, if you need to replace an entire arch of teeth, you might be eligible for All-on-4 treatment, which involves just one surgery and is designed to be as efficient as possible. On the other hand, traditional implant dentures might be a better fit for you. They come with a longer treatment process and may cost a bit more.

Your Care Team

Dentists have the right to decide how much to charge patients. It may be wise to compare costs at a few different practices to find out what kind of fees are standard in your care. Keep in mind that it is wise to be very wary if you come across any bargains for “cheap” implants that seem too good to be true. The last thing you want is to be treated by someone who cuts corners! Be sure to look at a dentist’s credentials and reviews before you allow them to work on your smile.

Affording Dental Implants

Dental implants typically cost at least a few thousand dollars. Admittedly, that can seem pricey. The good news is that many practices offer provisions to make treatments easier to afford. For example, most patients are eligible for low-interest financing. You might also be able to sign up for an in-house discount plan. In some cases, dental insurance can even be used to cover a portion of the cost of dental implants.

Dental implant treatment is complex. To find out how much it may cost for you, talk to a qualified dental team.
